I have had mine for about 7 months and the same issue. Waste of money, I guess.

What size of backpack does it fit in?

It isn't a cooler. It's a small refrigerator. You could run it off a USB power pack but it wouldn't work well in a backpack because it needs air circulation. For transport, it would fit in a rucksack or large day pack but might not fit in a smaller backpack.
