No, Gripples are not crimps and this is not a crimper. The tensioner pulls wire thru a Gripple that has an internal pawl to hold it. The result is consistently tensioned fence line that can easily be retightened without cutting off any crimps.

Does the Gripple Torq tool come with a head for 1/8 inch wire?

I used up to a 12 gauge wire with no problem.

Can the Gripple Torq tool work with 12 gauge wire?

Yes, as long as there is a Gripple that fits on the wire, this will work on that wire.

Gripple Torq Tool Tensioner, TrellisFencing Tool

The Gripple Torq Tool is a wire tensioning tool that is designed to work only with Gripple brand joiners. It is not a crimper and cannot be used with regular crimps. It works for wire as thin as 12 gauge and with any wire that has a gripple that fits on it. The tool can be used to tighten the BFast brace. Reviews show that the tool is effective and easy to use once you get the hang of it, but some customers found it a bit clumsy and awkward to use at first. One customer had trouble with the wire slipping through the teeth and another found that the wire grip part scarred the wire and could even tear it when used at or below recommended tension. The tool is considered a must-have for fence building but some customers were disappointed with its quality and longevity.
