Yes, some people have had good luck with Simple Green when cleaning Glocks and ARs.

Will this discolor aluminum? I am a small engine mechanic and looking for something to clean carburetors without discoloring the aluminum.

We cannot say for sure as we have not used it on aluminum. It is diluted with water and used in an ultrasonic cleaner.

It is recommended not to risk it as it is quite aggressive and designed for cleaning metallic components. Taking the gun down first is advised.
