Question : Does this sensor require an Aqara Hub?
Answer : Yes, an Aqara Hub is required and sold separately.
Question : What type of network connection is required?
Answer : It requires a secured 2.4 gigahertz WiFi network connection.
Question : Can this sensor connect to other Aqara devices?
Answer : Yes, it can connect up to 128 devices with the use of a repeater such as the Aqara Smart Plug or Aqara Smart Wall Switch (With Neutral) which are both sold separately.
Question : Could I use this in a refrigerator?
Answer : The Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor is suitable for indoor use. We do not recommend using the sensor in the refrigerator. Normal operating temperature:-20 to 50°C (-4 to122°F); humidity: 0~100%, non-condensing environment. Do not expose the sensor to rain or vapor. Do not install the sensor in the refrigerator, kitchen or bathroom.
Question : Does the product work with samsung smartthings hub?
Answer : I was able to connect one of these to my smartthings hub but only after enabling it thru edge. To do that, you need to signup as a developer, enroll your hub(s) and enroll in the SmartThings-managed Edge Device Drivers for these devices. If you used to use Smartthings DHTs then this is easy. If not then you will probably want to buy an Agara hub and use that.
Question : Can I use the eero6 Zigbee hub with this?
Answer : We do not officially support the Eero Hub. An Aqara Hub is required.
Question : Does it work in smart life app?
Answer : Sorry, it does not work with the Smart Life app. We make no claims of compatibility with any eco-systems other than Aqara Home, Apple Homekit, Google Home, Alexa, and Mi Home.
Question : How do I change from celsius to fahrenheit I am using the Tuya app and it connected but wont let me change to fahrenheit.
Answer : Sorry, we make no claims about being compatible with other brands, we would recommend you use the Aqara Home app to add the sensor, then you can change the celsius to Fahrenheit.
Question : I want a good temp and humidity sensor. I dont care about homekit. It says its zigbee compatible, so can I use it with my existing samsung hub only?
Answer : It works with an agnostic hub like Hubitat. I have lost track on how may items that I got to work by using my own drivers but this device is so basic a generic drive would work unlike my Yamaha NVR or LG UHDTV.
Question : What is the refresh rate of the humidity sensor? Is it often enough to control a bathroom fan, say update at 5 minute or less intervals?
Answer : Changes in temperature or humidity are immediately relayed to the Aqara Home app. We do recommend exposing the sensor to rain or vapor. Do not install the sensor in the refrigerator, kitchen or bathroom.
Question : Can these be used in an enclosure with a misting system? Or would water seep in?
Answer : It would not be recommended to use it in an enclosure with a misting system. The Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor is an indoor device that works at - 20 ~ 60 ℃ and 0-100% of relative humidity with no condensation. Do not install the sensor in the refrigerator, kitchen or bathroom. Do not expose the sensor to rain and vapor.
Question : Can this be used to create an Alexa routine to turn a ceiling fan on and off? (The fan is already Alexa controlled.)
Answer : Clearly says it works with Alexa in the description…..but it does not work properly with Alexa. It will tell you temp but not humidity. It also constantly gives the wrong temp and disconnects most of the time do not buy this product.
Question : Once connected to smartthings can you ask google what the temperature is in say the living room?
Answer : We do not officially support Smartthings and the Aqara Temperature Sensor is not currently supported in Google Home.
