I have to travel with a Thai mat for house clients. A lot of times I go up staircases and am traveling from house to house. How heavy is this mat?

Cannot give you an exact weight. I guesstimate it to weigh a little over fifteen pounds. I find it easy enough to lift at the same time as my other gear for outcalls, but pack it in a large laundry bag with backpack straps to carry on my back. Using it now for a year, I like it. It is a good mat. Not wide, just wide enough for an average-sized person. Plenty long, even for very tall clients.

Would this be firm enough for a baby to sleep on?

Definitely. We weren’t made to sleep on soft surfaces that misalign our spine. Sleeping on the floor is best for most all humans, I plan to co-sleep with my baby on one of these.

Did anyone else receive one with a strong musty smell? What can I do to deodorize it?

Use a cushioning pad to dust and bring out the sun.

To the seller - are Thai mattresses treated with any kinds of chemicals or pesticides before being shipped internationally to the U.S.?

I didn’t notice any chemicals or residues.

No. What gave you that idea? It smells of how the textile it was made of was manufactured. Plus if it had to be shipped across seas, the packaging may have picked up residual smell from its transport. If you want it to smell like the rest of your bedding. Wash it in VERY gentle mode in a non-agitating washing machine with lite detergent in cold water. Place in drier at warm temperature at 80-90F degree temp for 1-2 hours.

Could it be used on the patio? Like is it water-resistant?
