That is not a possibility with this mount. It is a tension mount that only fits between the two poles that hold up the headrest. I purchased two so that way each kid would have one.

Is there a way to shorten the width? even if it requires using a few tools

The width is on a spring so it adjusts from the smallest length to the longest with ease.

They go in and out spring activated adjustable works really well!!

Will this work on an airplane?

As long as the headrest has those bars it will work.

Has anyone had any issues using the switch with it??

It depends on the placement of your phone/iPad, if you set it up landscape or portrait, just make sure the clasp does not cover/hinder you from accessing the switches on the side of your phone/iPad.

If my headrest is 7 inches will it sill fit comfortably and not move around? I have a 2011 Chevy Surburban?

It fit in my 2011 Chevy Silverado perfect. Fits my phone and iPad perfectly.

Yes, But not if a pop socket is attached to back of phone.

Does it block the vents?

No .of course my mustang dosent have vents in back seat it goes under the headrest very conveniently.

Will it fit the head rests in a Buick Enclave?

Yes, I’m pretty sure it will fit in most vehicles. So I’m almost certain it will.
