What is the diameter in the back of metal?

The medals are 2" but they have a rectangular recess in the back. If you would like that dimension please let us know.

For number 34, what are the dimensions of the engraveable rectangle on the backside? How many letters can it accommodate?

We actually engrave a 1.5" round disk for the backs of these. We recommend no more than about 25 characters per line and 3 lines.

I see all the other styles have round plain backings for engraving, but number 34 is round and has a rectangular space as well as shown on the photo?

It does but the back is recessed so we engrave a 1.5" round disk to fill the space and give the back of the medal a finished look.

The rectangle is approximately 1/2" x 1-1/4" or the entire back is recessed and will hold a 1.5" round sticker or insert. The newer style of this medal has no rectangle area on the back anymore.
