Question : Is this a Madagascar or Tahitian Vanilla plant?
Answer : If you live in Madagascar or Tahiti, then yes. Otherwise, it'll be Murican' vanilla if you live in the US. Same species across the globe, just the climate its grown in is what gives it the region name. Know that at this age it'll be yearssssss before it gets big enough to flower and produce a bean, and good luck pollinating it by hand.
Question : I'm sure, I am looking for vanilla bean planifolia, I would like to grow my own vanilla pods for cooking. Is it the one?
Answer : Yes, it will produce the vanilla beans used for cooking. The trick is to get it to grow and flower to produce the pod. It’s a beautiful vining plant though.
Question : When does it bloom also how old is it?
Answer : It'll bloom hopefully within the first year, but most likely it won't be big enough unless you give it perfect conditions. The two I got from this seller were really tiny, took a long time to settle in and show new growth.
Question : Is this a Tahitian or Madagascar plant?
Answer : Mine arrived after 21 days tied so tightly tied to a board it cut roots/leaves and was dead. We will never know...
Question : Is this a miniaturized species of the vanilla plant or is this just a baby that will grow into a 6-foot vine plant?
Answer : It is a small cutting of the vine. It likes to climb and will get very long, but you can train it to grow on a small trellis or up a small rope trellis. It’s a pretty plant even without the flower and bean. I potted mine and have it growing around the pot hanger.
Question : What's the best growing medium you recommend?
Answer : We had one of these it lasted about a month. Then my wife got one from Ft. Lauderdale Orchid's Society auction. We found out going to an orchid show the best thing is to plant it in the ground next to a tree so it can climb up the tree. We live in Coral Springs and ours is doing very well.
Question : How do I cancel this order?
Answer : Press the button that says cancel?
Question : Has the 'mother' plant produced vanilla beans?
Answer : Not yet.
Question : Those who have gotten their orchid to live more than 1 or 2 weeks, what did you do to keep it alive?
Answer : Keep them in sphagnum moss in an aerated container if you take it off the dinky board it comes with, and make sure to keep it moist always. The vanilla takes a looooooong time to show new growth but when it takes off.... wow. Know that at this size it'll be years before it's large enough to flower.
