I'm not sure what 'glazing' is, but all I know is the stuff makes your hair feel thicker. It really does a great job.

Yes, it is. Supposedly, they just renamed/repackaged. Some reviews say it's not quite the same, but I've been using it for years, before/after their name/package update, and I loved it before and still love it now. I almost had withdrawls when I had a hard time finding it a few years ago. Then I found it on Amazon, thank God! It's a great product.

Is there a smaller size?

There used to be but the larger size is a better value!

Does this gel make your hair hard or crispy? Also, does it hold styles like a hairspray?

Hello Liz. This is the nicely gel to work with your hairstyles. I have personally been using it for at least 8 years. If you put it on your hair while wet and let it dry naturally, it will make it a little crispy. However, if you want volume, put on hair while wet and dry with blow dryer it gives volume. I also use it to hold hair for that spiky look by adding to hair in accent places after hair is completely dried. Same can be used the next morning to refresh styles. I love it.
