It depends on which end of the hammer you use. I suggest the pick, or the hammer, but not the handle.

what is the carabiner for? I don't see where it would connect to the hammer.

There is not a direct point of contact to attach the carabiner. However, there is a small hole at the base of the handle that you could loop a cord through, then attach it to that.

What is the weight? I see 22oz and 2.1lbs.

This hammer is roughly 1.4 lbs.
