The kit includes 1 pound 60/90 Coarse Silicon Carbide Grit, 1 pound 120/220 Medium Silicon Carbide, 1/2 pound 500 Fine (pre polish) Silicon Carbide Grit, and 1/2 pound 1200 Aluminum Oxide Polish.

Should I tumble my rocks with this grit alone or should I add water to it?

Water should be added to this. Usually you would load your tumbler, add the need amount of grit and fill with water till it just touches the top layer of stones. Take a look on youtube, there are some great howtos there. Good luck and happy tumbling!

Does it come with instructions?

This comes with universal instructions for use with most popular tumblers.

Can you just use sand?

This grit starts out coarse, then you move to finer grit over time . Coarse grit smooths as the finer grit polishes! Sand would smooth but never polish. Sand makes good beach glass!
