How many inches wide is the pot?

It’s about as wide as a 20 pound turkey so I’d say roughly 14” about give or take a few inches. I cooked a 20/21 pound turkey in it and it held up nicely only thing I would change is the stand. Also the safety valve takes two AAA batteries but you can bypass that with a clamp and is fine, it does the job well but if you have a bit extra to spend on one I suggest stainless pot with a nice stand for around $100-120👍 If you have anymore questions let me know....

how much oil should i use?

Buy 2 jugs of oil from Home Depot. It’s like 6 gallons. You won’t need it all but. You need to check before you fill with oil heat up and add turkey. Safety wise. Take turkey out of bag and put on the meat hook. Place in clean frying bucket and fill with water so the turkey is totally submerged. Once your done ? Slowly take turkey out of pot leaving as much water as you can in the pot. That tells you how much oil you need to use. Mark the pot to the level of water left once you remove turkey. On fry day ? Make sure your turkey is as dry as possible. Fill pot with that amount of oil. This will make sure you don’t have an overflow and a fire. Be safe. Lower the turkey slowly into hot oil. Don’t rush it. Go slow. Use a broom stick and 2 people. Because you can get splashed. Oh I used 4 gallons for a 20 lb turkey.

How much weight can the stand hold? I would like to use a larger pot with this stand.

I fried a 22lb turkey and it held up quite well so I’d say (just my opinion) 40lds total weight including pot it should hold up. But if you think it will be more then I would brace it with blocks and then your good for whatever 👍

Can the timer be removed? Want to use to boil down maple syrup sap.

I am sorry the timer box can not be removed on this and we would not recommend using this for maple syrup because of it being an aluminum pot. Thank you for asking

This one does not have the spigot
