The Emergency Radio Raynic 5000 is a compact, portable radio that has a range of features aimed to aid in emergency situations. The radio is made in China and is made of hard plastic to avoid getting sticky. It has a rechargeable lithium battery installed, but AAA batteries can be used as a backup. The radio can be charged via a micro-USB to USB cable which comes with the radio; however, customers must have their own AC plug adapters. The charging time depends on the adapter's power. The weather alert feature works in both Manual and Standby modes, and it will check for weather alerts every 6 seconds or so. The radio's red LED flashes when it checks for updates. The downside to this is that the radio Consumes power even when it appears to be off, so the battery must be recharged every 65 or 100 hours, depending on the mode selected. Customers must ensure that the "battery tab" is removed first before checking whether the charging function is working correctly.
