    Have any Query?

    Customer Questions & Answers

    • Question : What is the measuring range of the wind speed sensor?
      Answer : The measuring range is 0 ~ 45m/s.
    • Question : What are the available output forms of this sensor?
      Answer : The available output forms are Current 4 ~ 20mA, Current 0 ~ 20mA, Voltage 0 ~ 5V, RS232(Modbus/ASCII), RS485(Modbus/ASCII), Pulse(NPNR/PNP).
    • Question : Does the sensor come with a cable?
Answer : Yes, a 0.8 meters cable is included.
    • Question : How do you read the wind speed?
Answer : the wind speed data can be read by your Acquisition card or soft ware that can read 0-5V analog output.
    • Question : 5 volts input voltage what is the maximum or recommended amperage?
Answer : 5 volts input voltage 0-5v analog output type, the maximum current is 5mA. If you need 4-20mA output, you can choose 12 Volts supply type.
    • Question : what specific model is this... i.e. ygc-fs-5v-m ygc-fs-5v-v ygc-fs-5v-v1 ygc-fs-5v-w1 ygc-fs-5v-w2 which one is it?
      Answer : this 5V 0-5V output model is ygc-fs-5v-v.
    • Question : Maximum cable extension ?
Answer : cable standard length is 0.8m, if you want longer cable, please contact us for longer cable version.
    • Question : I understand this anemometer works with a 12v power supply but what is the variable output voltage? Is it 0 to 5v dc based on wind speed?
Answer : this type is 9-30V voltage supply, 4-20mA output based on wind speed.
    • Question : How are the output voltages calibrated to wind speed? Does the voltage change in linear fashion as a function of wind speed?
Answer : 0-45m/s wind speed to 0-5V voltage out, it is linear changing.
    • Question : Can this be used outside, in the rain and sun and such?
Answer : yes, this wind sensor is used outside, can work in the rain and sun, it widely used to detect outside wind speed.
    • Question : compatible with raspbbery pi or arduino?
Answer : Think of this device as a basic little DC wind Generator. I took the output from this device and ran it through a instrumentation amplifier to boost the output of this to turn on / run a solid state relay. You will get a variable dc voltage out of this. What you do with it or connect it to does not matter. If you know what you are doing and understand electronics and electricity, you can adapt this anemometer spinner to any project. I used mine to build a wind generator field circuit to provide 0 to 120 volts DC to a Jacobs 17kw wind generator. Faster the wind blows, the greater the output dc voltage is from this, then ran through a signal / voltage amplifier to directly drive a solid state relay, which acts like a light dimmer to send 40 to 120DCV to the field windings of the wind generator. You might have to make a middle man circuit to boost, condition the signal from it to the voltage or level needed for what ever you are using the raspberry pie. If you know and understand electronics well, you can take basically anything and adapt it to be used or controlled by a raspbbery pi or arduino. Hope that helps. SO just think of that as a mini wind generator, faster it spins the greater the voltage / signal out of it. Build a circuit to interface the voltage / signal to what your pi wants.

5V DC Supply 0-5V Output Anemometers Wind Speed Monitoring Sensor Outdoor Weather Station CALT

The YGC-FS Wind Speed Sensor is a low-cost wind speed sensor that is designed for use in industrial and environmental applications. The wind sensor is intended to be used to detect outside wind speed and can operate in rain and sun. The device can be powered by a 9-30V voltage source and provides a 0-5V or 4-20mA linear output based on wind speed. It can be read using an acquisition card or software that can detect 0-5V analog output. Customers had mixed experiences with this anemometer, with some finding it to be a good value and others experiencing problems with the device. One customer had difficulty with the installation of the device, which ultimately turned out to be inoperable, and the vendor refused to accept a return. Another was disappointed by the build quality, noting that the device felt cheap and was not as durable as they had hoped. However, other customers found the device to be reliable and appreciated the seller's responsive customer service.
