Hi: The box is 19-1/4 inches tall at its highest point. As far as design goes, we've sold hundreds of these boxes with only a handful of complaints, and most of those caused by damage during shipping. We are always open to suggestions for design improvements!

Can this be mounted to a truck bed?

Yes it can, I built a wooden stand for mine so it sits on the side of the bed rail.

What is the outside width of box with lid open?

Don't buy this. It is absolute crap.
