It is still waterproof on the underside, but the DWR coating helps with water repellency. The heat-taped seams may be less durable if exposed to the elements. The Aqua Quest Defender Tarp is an excellent buy for anyone looking for a heavy-duty, versatile product. With a Hydrostatic Resistance rate of 20,000mm, it offers ample protection from rain, wind, and snow. Although it is heavy, its solid Construction means it can hold up well in harsh environments, whether at a campsite or a Construction site for equipment. The tarp is Constructed of a TPU lamination on the underside of the tarp and DWR coating on the top side. The only downside of this tarp is that it is slightly pricier when compared to other tarp options in the market.
