They're ok for regular sidewalks and small pebbles. But for rougher pavement, they don't have extra shock absorbance like more expensive skates. I recommend using scissor position and shifting your weight to the back of the skates for rougher spots.

Just the right skate has a stopper. It is switchable though so you can use on the left skate or buy a second one. Of course you can't really use 2 brakes at one time :)
