A magnet would only stick to the exterior bottom. It came with a lid as pictured.

Why does it come without a cover?

The cover is to Help to speed up the heating of the broth when use it for hot pot at the table. However, the one I bought rusted over night after I tested to make sure the 2 sides don’t leak so I had to return it.
