What is special about the design of the ring holder?

It is shaped like a fairy tale book with an ornate cut-out, perfect for holding wedding rings.

Is there a "film" or something to keep the rings in the book? Or, would I just need to make sure the ring bearer keeps it held tight?

In mine there was no film to protect it. There is just the opening page that flips to show the cut out to place the rings. I had the ring bearer walk with down the aisle with the book, but kept the real rings with the best man.

I checked the packaging and it was (surprise) made in China.
