The tester checks continuity and proper wiring for CAT-6, 6A and 7 cables. It does not check for data throughput or if a CAT-7 cable can handle its full design data rate. The tester shows a "crossover" display when cables are crossed for a point-to-point connection without a switch or router, and it has a short indicator. It can identify jacks connected in one room to jacks in another room. The numbered LEDs will light up if both ends have been wired the same.
