Answer : Current design can't be connected together, hopefully new design will add your advice future.

Answer : One string, approx 10 to 12 feet long plus an additional 4 to 6 feet of elec wire to to the solar charging unit. Very pleased with mine, work as advertised.

Question : Can they be used indoors on a tree?
Answer : Sure, it can be used either indoors or outside, yet just need to keep the solar panel outside of the door to charge for the power.
Question : Do you have to use the spike in the ground for this to work? I wanted to hang them up high.
Answer : You may use some thin iron wire or strapping tape to fasten the spike anywhere if you can ensure the solar panel to receive enough sunshine for charging.
Question : How can you tell if the 'on' button is on?
Answer : I went back out after dark and they were not on. So I hit the button and they came on. Now I don't touch the button, just leave it on.
Question : Are these color-changing or normal multi-color?
Answer : At night they are normal multi-color. Can be set to blink as well. And new generation products can choose more modes now for more color styles.
