How do I connect to Arduino IDE?

Refer to the file "Heltec-Aaron-Lee/WiFi_Kit_series/esp32/libraries/OLED/examples/SSD1306SimpleDemo/SSD1306SimpleDemo.ino" on github.com. Ensure proper constructor ("SSD1306 display(0x3c, 4, 15)") and reset code is used.

Does the display use I2C?

Yes. CLOCK = 15, DATA = 4, RESET = 16.

Mine was preflashed but was immediately reprogrammed after purchase.

Is there a breakout board with terminal blocks this fits in?

Unknown. A ribbon header cable may be used to test.

How do you mount this to a project case/box?

Screw holes used to mount the display may be used, but additional hardware may be required.

My Heltec board using PlatformIO failed to program. What do I do?

Check if the serial port is printing, and if possible, measure the voltage.

Are the header pins soldered onto the board when purchased?

No. The header pins come in the kit and need to be soldered on.

Can you detect via software if running on USB power or battery?

No, it cannot be detected by software.

The Heltec Wi-Fi Kit 32 is an ESP32 board with an OLED display. Customers have had difficulties connecting to the Arduino IDE and have required editing the display Constructor and resetting the OLED display during the setup. The device uses I2C, and the header pins are not soldered on when purchased. While the product supports classic Bluetooth and BLE 5, the advertised image's LORA protocol appears to be an error. Some reviews find the product to be challenging to work with, with scattered documentation, incorrect GPIO labels, and difficulties flashing the device. However, others have found the product to be a great design with lots of memory, and a capable device that lists wireless networks.
