It comes with a blade. It broke the first time I used it that, coincidentally, was today. An Amazon drone must have been watching. I need to order a replacement. Perhaps it was operator error. We'll see.

Is this saw worth the price? A coping saw is $10. What does this saw do that a coping saw cannot do?

Many reviews of this on line and I believe in Fine Woodworking Mag. . No doubt a $10 coping saw will do almost everything this can do. This will be more rigid and will keep blade under higher tension so blade straighter. Cuts may be more accurate because of that. Depends what you’re doing with it. It does have detentes that let you rotate blade. Agree it is overpriced and handle is not the quality I would have expected eg a hand turned hardwood.

Can it cut through metals and stones? Like marble?

This saw uses regular pinless scrollsaw blades. I think they make jewelers blades for saws that are designed to cut metal so that might be a possibility. I have serious doubts about cutting stone.

Can this saw cut 1” stock hardwood?

Yes. You can get them from Lee Valley, Olson, Pegas, Ryobi. You can use any 5 inch pinless blade in this saw.

Should the saw be un-tensioned for storage from weekend to weekend?

Yes. I personally feel leaving any saw, or for that matter anything in tension if not necessary. In the case of the Knew Concepts saw, the tensioning is easily released by just flipping the tensioning lever down. Although this saw is costly, it out performs any other fret saw I have every used.
