I’m not sure what you mean, but you can use the microwave while the lid is stuck on the ceiling.

I thought magnets will cause sparking and ruin a microwave - Did it ruin your microwave oven?

No, they don’t spark. Maybe it’s because they are covered in plastic.

Can you keep it in the storage position and still use the microwave for heating things that don't splatter?

Yes, I keep mine in the microwave attached to the top. I only use the lid if I need it, not for everything I heat up needs the lid.
