HTH 52042 Swimming Pool Care Shock Advanced is a highly effective swimming pool chemical that clears green pools in less than 24 hours and is great for smaller pools with pumps or filter systems. The product comes in granular form and is simple to use by following the directions on the package. It is important to test the water before use, to ensure the FC is between 1-4 ppm for safe swimming. The shock dosage for a 1700-gallon above-ground pool is 1.6 oz for 5ppm or 3.1 oz for 10ppm, while the regular sanitizer dosage is 0.8 oz. In addition to your regular means of sanitizing the pool, It is recommended to shock the pool weekly or after heavy bather load, or weather event (rain) to prevent algae bloom. Overall, its a great product for the price that works exactly as stated on the package.
