It is but I wouldn’t buy it from Amazon. I had to return it because Amazon often gives u wallets that have been returned and unless the original buyer disconnected it from Find My app on the iPhone it won’t work. I ended up buying it direct from Apple.

Why are so many reviews saying the wallet is paired with another phone? Is this not a new wallet?

These are new. But some may be new wallets that were returns. If you get one that gives this message, per Apple documentation, the previous owner has to remove the find my lock. They cannot be repaired until this occurs. Guessing it would be impossible to track down so you’d just need to return the wallet and hope Amazon sends you one that wasn’t a previous return. If you order one and it doesn’t have the little pull away sticker top open on the back at the top near the plastic shelf holder tag (or this appears to have been manually re-taped) I’d return the wallet. Amazon should not be re-selling these once opened and returned to avoid this.

Does the wallet itself act as an airtag?

No. There is no active tracking. When the wallet is removed from the phone, if you have it added to FindMy, it will mark that location and remember that the wallet was last connected there.

Are cards safe from being demagnetized?

Ehh. I’ve hear it’s shielded but every card I’ve put in there demagnetizes over time. Is it the wallet? The phone? Who knows — but that’s my experienc

How does the Find My work? Does it only register a location when it detaches from the phone, or will it register locations from a purse/pocket?

It records the location the moment it separates from the phone.

Does this work with Apple Pay? Isn’t this a step backwards.

It’s for holding physical cards. It does not impede the use of Apple pay.

Does find my wallet work on third party MagSafe case?or it has to be apple magsafe?

It is my understanding that only the Apple MagSafe wallet is currently compatible with Find My. I have yet to find one that lists itself as compatible.

The Apple Leather Wallet with MagSafe for iPhone is a nice gadget to own, but some customers have been having issues with it. Many reviews suggest that some wallets were paired with another phone and weren't deregistered by the previous owner, which means that Find My features are unusable and can cause an error message when trying to connect it to your phone. The wallet can hold one credit card and one ID only, and some customers have reported that the weather starts to separate after about three or four months, which is disappointing given the price. The wallet is designed to work with an iPhone 12 with a MagSafe case. It is not compatible with iPhone 11 or older models.
