The diameter of the cable is 10mm. So as long as the drain plug is wider than 10mm, then the cable will pass through the drain plug.

Instructions are in the package, you twist one end with it unlocked, set your combo, and twist the end back to set it.

Is it hard to stretch out - wants to coil?

It is not hard to stretch out at all. It will not coil up. Very good lock.

How thick is the cable?

The cable is 10mm thick. This applies for all lengths.
