It does not have the max wind speed for the past 24 hours. It has wind speed, gust, and direction. It has temperature, dew point, and heat index but does not cycle through them. You can set it to display what you want and check the others easily.

Mine came with a little coiled spring in a plastic bag. Manual did not mention where it goes. Is it just an extra spring and where does it go?

It goes under the rain catcher.

Can I monitor this from a remote location?

Yes, it will let you monitor remotely.

The Ambient Weather WS-1900A weather station is a reliable and easy-to-use device that can be roof-mounted or placed in an unobstructed location in your house. It comes with an auto-dump feature that lets you know when a storm is coming, and it can be connected to the Internet without the need for additional devices. The device provides real-time information on pressure, temperature, wind speed and direction, humidity, and outdoor/indoor temperatures with maximum and minimum readings. Although it does not forecast future weather, it provides accurate information on daily and weekly totals, as well as highs and lows for rain, wind and temperatures.
