Question : Can I connect to the Sonos amp a pair of bipolar towers with built-in powered subwoofers (e.g., definitive technology bp-8040st)?
Answer : A quick look indicates the speakers themselves are passive and only the subwoofer is powered. This should work fine with the Amp, but a splitter is needed to connect to both subwoofers as the Amp only has 1 dedicated subwoofer output.
Question : Does this make Sonos Connect and Sonos Bridge obsolete? Is that functionality built in or does it configure together with those?
Answer : Sonos Amp is in a different product category compared to Connect and Bridge. Amp brings the Sonos experience to un-powered floor-standing, in-wall, in-ceiling, outdoor, and bookshelf speakers. It can also be used to connect external audio sources like turntables, TVs, CD players, and more. If you have any further questions about Amp, you can chat with Sonos team on their website.
Question : Can I hook up a karaoke machine with this Sonos amp without having a delay on the mic sound?
Answer : For an answer on this, please visit the Sonos website and use their chat feature for assistance.
Question : I want to play my new turntable gift on my Sonos system of 3 soundbars, is this what I need to have it freestanding in a completely different room?
Answer : If you have existing third-party speakers you’d like to use, the Amp would be a good choice. If you’re just looking to play the turntable through the three soundbars, the Sonos Port might be a better option. You can read more about turntable audio at https://blog.sonos.com/en/listening-to-vinyl-with-sonos/.
Question : Does the amp have internal decoding for dolby digital? Can it drive 2 speakers in front and 2 wireless for rears?
Answer : The Amp is capable of decoding Dolby Digital and can function as either a home theater master running the front channels OR can run the surrounds as long as the home theater master is another Sonos home theater product, like a second Amp, an Arc, or a Beam. Since each Amp is a single entity in the Sonos app, one Amp cannot run both the front channels and the rears. More details on Amp requirements can be found at our support page or by reaching out to the technical support team.
Question : Will it run a pair of Klipschorns?
Answer : From what we can see, the Klipschorns have an impedance of 8 ohms, which would be supported. More information can be found at https://support.sonos.com/s/article/265. However, as there are different iterations of these speakers, it might be best to verify with Klipsch.
Question : Does this amp have built-in music channels?
