If you have the remote control, you just push the Stop button on the right side twice and it will stop. When you push the On button, to the left of the Stop button, it should start the CD/MP3 right where you stopped. I use mine all the time that way and it works fine. If you do not have the remote, you can buy them online here or on eBay.

What is the anti skip protection on the insignia ns p5113 portable cd player?

I don't know about its anti-skip. But it had an extremely short battery life. Quality, battery-wise, etc. is better on a used vintage Sony. I did better with an Amazon 'Very Good' rated vintage used Sony CD player.
