Question : What fabrics can I use with this stabilizer?
Answer : This stabilizer is ideal for use with light to medium woven and knit fabrics.
Question : Is this stabilizer easy to use?
Answer : Yes, it is an iron-on interfacing that provides crisp support and adds body and permanent stability when used as a backing.
Question : How much stabilizer is in each package?
Answer : Each package contains 2 yards of 15-inch-wide stabilizer.
Question : Is this a good backing for embroidery on baby onesies?
Answer : Yes, just make sure you trim it after the embroidery.
Question : I am making a hanky butterfly quilt. Would this be a good product to use to back them?
Answer : I'm really not sure about using it on thin old hankies sorry. I use it to make some pouches on cotton fabric and some thicker fabric.
Question : How is this different from pellon craft fuse stabilizer or pellon decor bond fusible stabilizer? Can I use either of these in place of shape-flex?
Answer : I am not sure what you are making. This is the interfacing that is recommended for the Bionic Gear Bag. I tried using Decor Bond and several other fusibles on these bags and Shape Flex (also called Pellon SF101) is definitely the best. Both Decor Bond and Craft Fuse are somewhat stiffer and, to my mind, the fusible that is used on these shows in the final product as some crinkling in the fabric. Shape Flex provides some support but is smooth and supple. Good luck with your projects!
Question : What is the width of this Pellon?
Answer : The package contains 2 yards of 15-inch-wide stabilizer.
Question : Can I stitch over this after I iron it on?
Answer : Yes, you iron it to the wrong side of the fabric, then you can sew it in the seams or around an applique piece.
Question : Is this the Pellon SF 101?
Answer : Yes, this is SF101.
Question : I have issues with getting tiny holes in t-shirts apparently caused by zipper in jeans etc. Would this be good to protect a small section of the shirt?
Answer : Sewing is my business and I use shapeflex all the time, but I doubt it will keep you from getting holes if your zipper gets caught in your jeans. It is strong even though it is thin. You could try it by ironing it on with a steam iron and be persistent so that you are sure it will stay in place. It has a tendency to move away from the fabric if the glue doesn't adhere correctly.
Question : Can this be used to mend torn fabrics (cotton blend, like a bedsheet)?
Answer : I'm not sure how well once bonded, this interfacing would hold up to the repeated washings bedsheets require. Sheets usually can be repaired with a percale cotton blend and making a patch from it. Zigzag stitch around the patch and then over the tear.
Question : A great product but why do the stated dimensions give the impression it’s a pack of strips only 2.45 inches wide?
Answer : The package of stabilizer comes in a roll. The description states that it is 2 yards long by 15 inches wide. I think there may be a typo in the dimensions. I can see why it is confusing!
Question : Can it be prewashed along with the cotton fabric it will be fused to so as to prevent/reduce later shrinkage; or will the adhesive be washed away?
Answer : I do not think you are supposed to prewash this.
