The bristles are fine because this helps to provide a smooth coat finish to whatever you are painting.

Would you dip the brushes in water prior to painting just like a regular brush?

Technically, you can safely use watercolors with acrylic brushes, but always exercise caution when using watercolor brushes with acrylics. A single use with acrylics can irreparably alter a watercolor brush. But they’re your brushes you can use them anyway you want! But always remember Properly clean your brushes immediately when you’re done using them. “Never Ever Let The Paint Dry on the Brush.” Follow that rule and they will last you a long time. Go to your Amazon orders, find your order and you can email the seller from there. Amazon is then aware of the problem as well. I did not have any problem getting my order from the seller but we have had boxes stolen in our neighborhood before. Good luck!
