The granite I am working on is dark red. Its about 15 years old. It has a fair amount of small pits and voids. Will I get in trouble with the MB20?

The MB20 will not take out the pits and voids. It is good only for the final polish.

Can this be used on Quartzite with a leathered finish?

If you buff the quartzite, it will make the top layer shinier, but it will not really affect the bottom layers.

After polishing, do I need a sealer? And does a sealer really do anything on granite, a rather non-porous stone?

Yes, seal the granite after use as this product will remove any existing sealer.

What kind of sander is best? I have vibrating finishing sander? Or do I need an orbital one?

A vibrating sander works well. However, the trick is to use the minimum amount of paste. Too much paste with an orbital sander will result in marks left on the stone.

This product is a polishing compound for granite that produces a higher gloss when used with a hogs hair pad. It is not a surface coating and will not alter the stone chemically. The 8 oz jar is reported to be enough to do a 20 sq ft space with over half still remaining. The MB-20 compound is less abrasive than automotive rubbing compound but just as effective, if not more so, in achieving a glossy finish when used correctly. It is advised that it is not used to remove pits and voids but only for the final polish. The product works well to remove etching and spots from the granite.
