There is a difference in the color SHFD2 is yellow while the SHFD3 is pink. One reason I choose the D2 was for it's wider grip which is very comfortable.

No, the spade head could not easily be detached and reattached for overseas suitcase transport

The picture of the lime green spade looks more like mint green. Can someone who's purchased it tell me if truly lime? (I don't want mint color)

I'm not all that knowledgeable with all the various colors, but the color scheme of the 'lime green spade' I have is exactly as what is shown on the product page. According to Wikipedia, lime is a greenish color with a yellow hue to it. This tool does not have any yellow hue, thus it truly can't be lime. Probably closer to mint green as you said.
