Can smaller-size jars be used?

Absolutely. You'll just use less water because they are not as tall. Don't get tempted to stack the jars just because they are smaller. Only can one layer of jars at once.

How tall is this pot please?

The pot from the bottom to the top of the handle is 9 5/16th inches, the pot alone is 7 and 9/16th inches. I just measured it, twice.

How HIGH is this pot, the measurements listed seem unclear. Also how WIDE? Thanks.

The inside of the pot is 9 3/4 deep and going across, it 13 1/4 measuring on the inside of the pot. It's able to handle the large mason jars without crowding. Hope this helps.

Does this pot has a smooth bottom for use on a glasstop electric stove?

I do not believe that this pot is recommended for a glass top stove. However, it does have a smooth bottom and I have used mine several times on a glass top stove without any problems.

What is the diameter (the bottom) of this canner? I have a large canner that is really too big for the burner on my stove.

I have a regular electric stove with coils - although the canner is larger than the coils, I have used it as well as one I wore out for years. You just center the canner over the coil. I don't know how useful one would be that was as small as a burner on regular stoves, wouldn't hold many jars.

It is about 27cm deep with a diameter of 35cm. It is the diameter which makes it difficult for me to use. However, if you preserve quarts, it is exactly the size you need.

Yes Debbie, it does accomodate quart size jars. We also have one of these and we really like it. My wife says either 5 or 7 quarts at a time.

can it be used in glass stovetop?

The information in the pamphlet says do NOT USE ON GLASS STOVETOPS.

This enamel canner is made in the USA and can be used on glass top stoves. The pot has a smooth bottom, is 7 and 9/16th inches tall and can be used for standard pint jars. However, it does not come with a lid. Some customers have had issues with rust on the inside of the canner or with the metal rack rusting or being too flimsy. Capacity can be also an issue for those who want to use it for quart jars. On the plus side, the enamel canner has been recommended for sterilizing canning jars, jelly and jam with some new users pleased with the purchase as it comes on time and as advertised.
