Which thickness is needed for .308?

3/8 minimum… you will only end up with golf ball sized dimples in the plate and they will take a beating. I have thumped mine several times with 223 which is much faster than 308, but have poked it with everything from 22lr to 300win mag and 3/8” thick AR-500 is ideal for most high velocity stuff 100 yds +. If shooting inside 100 yds with anything more than 223 may look into 1/2”.

Does this come with a stand?

No stand but price was great. Had those targets for months and my husband and I use it every weekend and it withstands 308 rounds.

Will these hold shots up to a .357 or .44 magnum?

Yes, they will. I shoot .308 and 6.5creedmore at 75+ yards and they hold up

What size of lag bolts fit in the square holes?

The chains you buy come with 1/4" bolts. They move as the hole are closer to 3/8". I just held them with channel locks and tightened with a socket.
