It's additional storage and a M2 SSD that works in the enabled slot inside the PS5. That slot has very specific requirements as far as the capacity and SSD speeds and you find that info on the Sony website. I've got the 4TB with heatsink version of this SSD myself, which is the maximum capacity the PS5 can support. It works great.

What firmware version does it have? There were recent Phison E18 improvements for various scenarios

Does the ssd with heatsink fit the digital Ps5 as well?

I’d suggest getting heatsink made for the ps5 this is just a computer heatsink they don’t do as Well as the ones that replace the ssd slot

The INLAND 8TB Performance Plus NVMe internal gaming SSD solid state drive is a top-performing drive with a read speed of up to 7GB/s. It features Micron 176-layer TLC NAND and Phison E18 controller, which provides a 6000 TBW Endurance and a 6-Year Limited Warranty. The device comes with a double-sided heatsink and is well suited for the enabled slot inside the PS5. While a computer heatsink can be used, a heatsink made explicitly for the PS5 is recommended. The customer service experience from Micro Center has been lacking. Some customers had issues with returns and confrontational customer service. However, the product itself is sturdy and runs smoothly.
