We used a ceiling hook that I got separately.

I’m concerned that it might swing around when my cat tries to get in/out of it. How steady is it?

My cat climbs to the top all along the macrame it is sturdy and cat friendly you just have to be careful the robe underneath doesn’t come undone. Mine did had to re-knot it. It swings but my cat loves it, its one of his favorite things in the house.
