I bought a new sander because the ones I found to be new pads improperly worked. It was cheaper to buy another sander attachment.

No problem finding the sandpaper. It is quite common triangle shaped, just like the Matrix sandpaper attachment, and easy to install with the sticky surface that is like Velcro.

Is this any better or different from the triangular sanding pad that comes with the oscillating tool attachment for the matrix system?

It is bigger and covers more surface, making it better for bigger jobs.

Does this oscillate back and forth in one direction only or is it a circular oscillation?

It pretty much oscillates in a circular motion, but it is quick.

Can anyone give some tips about using this? How fast do you run it? How much pressure do you apply?

The velocity and pressure can vary based on your needs. You can pull the trigger all the way if you want.
