Rubbing alcohol will take it off, but be careful as it may also remove the paint underneath.

The Angelus Acrylic Finisher is a product that can help with cracking and peeling of painted leather and can be used on shoes of different colors. It is also ideal for use on patent leather and other smooth leather types such as an ottoman. The product is clear and dries shiny. However, one reviewer claimed that the product arrived with clogged chunky flakes, and another buyer received a cracked bottle from the seller. The Acrylic Finisher has been described as very watered down in some cases, but other customers found it to work great and even made their items look brand new.
