Are they designed to be used for white as well as colors?

I use the wool dryer balls for whites and colors. When I used them to dry new, dark blue fleece sheets it was a big mistake! The balls were covered with blue fuzz. I used lint catcher sheets to take the fuzz off but finally had to buy new ones. The blue balls are now for the exclusive use of my granddaughter at college when she washes and dries her blue fleece sheets. Lesson learned!

How often do balls need to be replaced? Do you ever wash them?

I've used the dryer balls from Clean People for several months to a year now (or maybe more). I don't wash them (because they only go in the dryer and do not get dirty.) I am very satisfied with them.
