No water line needed. You do need a pump. The water from the spillway bowl spills into either the other bowl or into a pond.

Aquascape Spillway Basin for Pond, Landscape, and Garden Water Features, 40-Inch | 78205

The Aquascape Spillway Bowl creates a peaceful and elegant water feature for any outdoor space. The installation process requires a bit of work to ensure the bowls are level, but the manufacturer is helpful and responsive if any issues arise during setup. The biggest complaint is that the "patina" finish looks unfinished and cheap. However, the bowls are easy to winterize, and the pump is virtually silent, only the sound of the water can be heard. The product was delivered quickly and in excellent condition. Customers have used the spillway bowl as a standalone bowl for water lilies, while others have combined it with other fountains or pond features. The bowl is heavy and will take some effort to move during the winter months.
