No, it does not rotate. Once the case is on your iPad, it opens vertically. But it only stands horizontally. Just like the picture shows.

Help! just bought this cover and it’s not what i want, but i can not remove it! seriously, i cannot get it off because it fits so tightly. help!

I start on one end that's close to where the cover attaches, and with my fingers I push it off on one corner. I have something that I can stick in between the case and iPad to help further pull it off.
