Will this unit measure the temperature on shiny metal? I am looking to measure press decks and steel molds in the rubber molding industry.

Is there a minimum distance the 568 must be from an object to obtain a temperature reading? For example, will it take a reading from 6 inches away?

There is not a minimum that i know of. However the max depends on the size of the object you a measuring. The 568 the has a distance to spot ration is 50:1. The smallest area it can measure is .8". This can be measured at any distance below 12". A 1.7" object can be measured upto 60" away.

Does it equip with the guidance lasers?

The 568 does employ a laser for identifying measurement location at a distance.

what is the difference from a 50:1 from a 30:1 spot ratio?

more accuracy at longer distance for 50:1
