What unique process minimizes thread breakage?

Is the eye of the needle large enough to thread pearle cotton embroidery thread?

I threaded #8 perle cotton and the eye was plenty big enough.

Will these work with pearl cotton size 5?

I use Valdani perle cotton 8 and cannot use a needle threader to pull the thread through a Bohin size 5 embroidery needle. The thread will only go through the eye as a single thread. Even then, it rubs as I pull it through. I don't like causing that much friction on my thread. I use a different needle when sewing with perle cotton size 8.
