The Garmin Zumo 396 is a solid GPS device with built-in Bluetooth and various mapping systems. It also includes lifetime map updates through Wi-Fi or computer. It can charge through a USB cable, but not while in its cradle due to the female port being blocked. The device is compatible with topographical mapping and includes Canada in their North American mapping. The maps are completely installed on the device, so it will still function as a map without GPS satellite service. It can sync with a Sena 10S headset, but there isn't clear information on which other models work. The power cord connects to the back of the Zumo 396. Customer Experiences: - Positive experiences from customer reviews show that the GPS provides great routes with more twists and turns and elevations to make the trip enjoyable. - Negative experiences suggest that the device has an overly complicated method of fastening to the bike and the touch screen interface is archaic. The screen brightness isn't great in full sun, and the battery doesn't last long, causing customers to return or find an alternative solution. - Some users had issues with the Trip Planner and Where To? functions, with intermediary stops and route changes happening unexpectedly. The GPS also suggests taking inappropriate side roads and gives incorrect location information. - Some users have had issues with pop-ups, most concerned with privacy concerns and unnecessary warnings about gas usage and upcoming curves. The keyboard is impractical for use while riding.
