The Amprobe AT-6020 Advanced Wire Tracer is a highly recommended tool for electricians and engineers. It has eight sensitivity modes and can find the correct breaker if grounded to a separate ground than the circuit uses. One customer was able to trace a dead circuit along its entire path and discover a nick in the hot wire that was shorting on the ground wire, ultimately fixing the problem and avoiding the need to call an electrician. Another customer found it to be even better than the Ideal SureTrace, with a well-built weatherproof case and far superior frequency channels. However, some customers did note that it was pricey and took time to learn fully.
