Can you put them in tap water?

Please know you can *NEVER* use tap water because of the chlorine and unfiltered substances that occur in the metal pipes which can kill every one of these creatures when they are born. In nature, they live in rain water that collects in pools on rocks in deserts. It has to be SPRING WATER from a bottle or filtered water. Thank you for caring about them.

Mine got about as big as my ring - fingernail. We had to put him in a bigger container because he outgrew the smaller one. I fed him regular food and I/2 of a cherry tomato everyday.

How long do they live?

Well, they're supposed to live about six weeks, I think; but if you're sent a bunch of seed shrimp and water fleas (as I was) they will breed and multiply and pretty much live until you kill them.

How long will the eggs survive in the bag? ( Not opened and not in the water )

Eggs can remain dormant for years.

Can you use filtered water from the refrigerator?

All water systems are different, which is why we suggest bottled or distilled water. Even if water is filtered, it may be hard or soft and that could affect Sea Monsters growth.

What happens if you put them in tap water?

We used filtered (BRITA) tap water and they hatched fine. The largest ate all the others, and he seems to be thriving.

I lost the instructions? Is there a place I can find that?

Can I remove the dinosaur background?

The dinosaur background, in fact, has to be taped on. So you could just skip that step.

I followed the instructions perfectly but nothing after 4 days. What can I do? Should I add a pellet of food?

Be sure water is 70-75 degrees. Don’t add food yet. Sometimes the eggs just don’t hatch and you need to order more. They are VERY tiny when they first hatch. Try looking with a dark background.
