I don't know, but according to the technical specifications for the 840 g4, the g4 has a 65W power supply and this docking station is 120W so this may be a problem. Check out the docking connector on the g4 to see if they even remotely look alike before you dig into it further.

I would say no since that series is not listed in the description as a compatible series. It IS compatible with the 640 G1

Yes it will work. Although, this is an end of life product. It works great. Got mine a year ago. I needed to update the video drivers audio and the USB drivers on my computer. Don't get me wrong. It will function out of the box, but it was less glitchy with the latest drivers.
