Question : What type of color codes are available with the Nix Mini 2?
Answer : The Nix Mini 2 provides physical paint matches and digital color codes in sRGB, CMYK, CIELAB, HEX, LCH(ab), LRV, and Hue formats.
Question : Can the Nix Mini 2 be used for touch-up paint matching?
Answer : No, the Nix Mini 2 is not recommended for touch-up paint matching as it is difficult to ensure a precise color match.
Question : What should I be aware of when using the Nix Mini 2?
Answer : Colors shown on-screen may not precisely represent actual paint or digital colors due to variances in display calibrations. Also, color scans are affected by uneven surfaces, multicolored patterns, metallic surfaces, pearls, high gloss and ambient light.
Question : Is this a spectrophotometer, or merely a RGB sensor with a high color index light source?
Answer : Nix Mini is not a spectrophotometer – it is a colorimeter and therefore does not collect spectral data.
Question : How does this compare to the color muse?
Answer : My sales rep at KM uses a Muse and I needed an exact color match done for cabinets. He scanned a door I brought in and I got an exact color match and color name, bought the paint and finished the job.
Question : Will it recognize automotive paint?
Answer : It might recognize the color, but probably not the brand. You better check it at the company that makes it; for the more expensive model they have more color libraries I think...
Question : Does this work with Dupont/Metallux?
Answer : Currently Dupont and Metalux paints are not native to the Nix color library. Our similar product the Nix Pro Color Sensor does include the ability to create or import custom libraries to the Nix Pro app!
Question : Does it give cielab values like the pro model?
Answer : It does provide CIELAB, HEX, sRGB, CMYK, LCH(ab), and LRV.
Question : My windows pc has bluetooth, is there a compatible app?
Answer : Sorry I have no idea, contact Nix direct, the guy is very helpful and very honest so you can trust him.
Question : Will this match Sherwin Williams colors?
Answer : Yes
Question : Has anyone used this on very rough surfaces, e.g. stucco?
Answer : I would say your result would depend of the distance from the material you are metering, the further away the more data you are collecting at the cost of precision, the closer the more accurate but as stucco has highs and valleys shaded areas would be a factor.
Question : Does this match all PPG paint colors, including custom colors?
Answer : It will not give you a formula for a custom color. It will give you suggestions for close matches to PPG colors.
Question : Can this match like wall paint with paint from pallets? So i can pick up the right one?
Answer : The Nix app allows you to select various paint providers. When the sensor reads the color, the app will present you with a list by vendor of the closest matching color.
